Mary and Joseph are both insignificant in the eyes of the world. Yet the Creator of the universe chose them for the most significant moment in the history of the universe! They had no hope to be anything other than poor Jewish people under Roman rule. Christmas is the announcement that the excluded, sinful, and insignificant people are included, forgiven, and given significant roles in God’s family.
